Very Grateful

Dear the Trustees and Devotees of the Oxford Buddha Vihara in Britain and in Singapore,

I write to say how grateful I am to all of you for arranging the one year commemorative anniversary of my mother on Thursday, 20th August. In her last days, she became more convinced than any other times in her life that we, her children, and her Dhamma friends from Singapore, India, Thailand and UK, loved her and cared for her. That awareness of our metta helped her to deal with the pain of cancer.

As you know, she chose to rely on her meditative awareness of the pain and the Dhammacakka-pavattana-sutta chanting rather than using morphine in dealing with the ever increasing sharp pain. That was a very difficult thing for any patient to do.

The chanting of the Dhammacakka-pavattana-sutta on the day was very befitting to her memory.

Thank you also for all the supporting messages coming from within the UK, Spain, Brunei and Thailand. I am forever indebted to you for your kindness.

Yours in the Dhamma,

Ven. Dr. Khammai Dhammasami
Abbot of the OBV
Britain and Singapore

Dear Venerable Sayadaw

OBV Singapore will also conduct the same programme tomorrow evening at 7.30pm. We will be sending out email and those who are available are welcome to participate. Ven Vayaminda will give a short Dhamma talk. The merits accursed will be dedicated to your beloved mom.

Dear Venerable Dhammasami

I am sorry not to be able to join you on Thursday evening, but we will remember your mother in our chapel tomorrow morning – so there will be the benefit of some Christian chanting as well as Buddhist chanting and her anniversary!

Sincerely and with all good wishes,
Sister Rosemary SLG
Oxford

Dearest Venerable Sayadaw,

Thank you for taking the time to reply. Yesterday I read all your mother's website. It was very touching. She had a hard life at the beginning, but it was wonderful to know she had such a devoted family and could travel to all the places that meant so much to her and take such strength from her Dhamma practice before she died.

Yours with affection and respect,
Layla
